ASTM D7183

ASTM D7183 is the Standard Test Method for Determination of Total Sulfur in Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Related Chemicals by Ultraviolet Fluorescence

This test method covers the determination of sulfur in aromatic hydrocarbons, their derivatives, and related chemicals. This test method is applicable to samples with sulfur concentrations to 10 mg/kg. The limit of detection (LOD) is 0.03 mg/kg S and the limit of quantitation (LOQ) is 0.1 mg/kg S. With careful analytical technique, this method can be used to successfully analyze concentrations below the current scope.

The American Standardization of Testing Methods (ASTM) published the ASTM D7183 method specifically for the petrochemical industry, covering the determination of the total sulfur content in aromatic hydrocarbon products by oxidative combustion followed by Ultraviolet Fluorescence detection.

Working range Total Sulfur : 0.5 – 10 mg/kg

Boiling range : 25 – 400 °C

Sample types: Aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, ethylbenzene but also pentane (C5) type of samples

To comply with ASTM D7183, EST & TSHR offer NEXIS TS, NEXIS VP TS, NEXIS eQP TS and TS 6000/7000 including combined instrument configurations like TN/TS with fully automatic liquids injection through AS120 Liquids Autosampler configurations for this ultra-trace level Total Sulfur analysis.
